Wellness Champion Program in Boston Public Schools

What is a Wellness Champion?

A Wellness Champion is an active member of a school community, such as a teacher, paraprofessional, nurse, parent, school partner, or lunch monitor, with a commitment to creating a healthier school environment. A Wellness Champion will lead their school’s efforts to integrate or enhance the current HWD initiatives.

What Does A Wellness Champion Do?

Serve as a liaison linking the Boston Public School’s Health & Wellness Department and the members of their school’s community to promote, communicate and implement the selected role the Wellness Champion has chosen.

General Wellness Champion Responsibilities:

  • Attend mandatory Wellness Champions professional development sessions
  • Serve as an active member of their school’s Wellness Council
  • Complete all domain specific requirements
  • Complete all evaluation requirements, such as implementation reports and program surveys.
